Patricia Franklin - Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Patricia Franklin's leadership of Atlas Island is based on over 20 years of success in the corporate-based training, multimedia, television and publishing industries. She has produced pioneering and profitable corporate-based training and consumer multimedia titles since 1994. In her initial career, Ms. Franklin wrote for Newsweek, Los Angeles Times and The Economist.

Ms. Franklin became a commissioned international author of Profits of Deceit, Dispatches From the Frontlines of Fraud (Heinemann, 1990), for which she worked undercover with detectives and investigators in fraud prosecution cases. Upon her return to London, Ms. Franklin's writing became the subject of documentaries. She founded Intrepid Film and Television (London) where, for six years, she led teams in the development and production of drama, documentary and music programming for the BBC, Channel Four Network Television and International Video Network (IVN) where her work captured 100 million-viewer audiences.

A graduate of the University of Southern California and Rotary International Foundation Scholar of The London School of Economics, Ms. Franklin is a conference speaker for Women in Technology International, the Association for Test Publishers and The American Society for Training and Development. She is a member of the World Affairs Council, Co-Chair of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Friends of the London School of Economics and a member of the Board of Advisors for TechLearn 2004. Tresa Eyres - Vice President of Excellence
Tresa Eyres is founder of Eyres Consulting. She enables excellence by designing and developing custom training programs. Tresa has spent more than 25 years helping clients improve their productivity and profitability through targeted, results-based programs. She helps clients analyze their processes, get organized and get desired results. Programs with Tresa’s signature have been used to train hundreds of employees nationwide and worldwide. Her programs turn the hows into simple exercises and tools that people can learn and repeatedly apply to make the right things happen. Tresa has a Masters Degree in Education from Michigan State University. [up]


Andrew Klein - Director of Technology

Andrew Klein has been overseeing the construction of interactive media for twenty years.. Mr. Klein has architected and directed development of music sharing software for Sony and Bertelsmann. Before that he was the technical director and architect for instantET, a downloadable Internet application designed by Agency.com for Entertainment Tonight.

Mr. Klein has created content for marketing, education, and entertainment on many different platforms including Web, CD-ROM, Interactive TV, and laser disk, to name a few. As Director of Technology at Red Sky for three years, he led the engineering and IT departments and serviced many clients including Sony Pictures, Nike, Lands End, Absolut Vodka, and Sprite.

Earlier on, Mr. Klein was a Senior Technical Lead at Poppe Tyson where his clients included Raychem, Symantec, Sony PlayStation, and Hewlett Packard. He was a technical director for AT&T during the interactive television trials in the early 90s having worked on large interactive projects for United Technologies and Disney. Mr. Klein was lead developer of an early multi-point whiteboard software product for the Windows platform and has written several software tools for computer-aided music composition.[up]


Eric Rosen - Director of Product Management
A seminal figure in the advancement of e-learning standards such as SCORM and AICC, Mr. Rosen entered e-learning as project manager, instructional designer and multimedia developer a decade ago.  As Learning Strategist at Saba, Mr. Rosen traveled worldwide producing workshops, white papers, and websites on the business importance of learning standards and content strategy while helping to evolve the Saba Learning Management Platform.

Mr. Rosen has managed relationships with numerous partners and has advanced standards as a speaker at industry events like TechLearn, ADL Plugfest, Training Conference, and Macromedia MAX. He has written for trade publications including Chief Learning Officer and Training magazine.

Mr. Rosen is VP Programs for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the International Society for Performance Improvement. Currently pursuing an online masters degree in Human Performance Technology at Boise State University, Mr. Rosen holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and International Business from McGill University.[up]


Robert Gullett - Director of Marketing
Rob Gullett began his career in Channel Sales and Marketing with Citicorp, New York. Mr. Gullett secured, developed and trained Channel sales teams to bring Citibank's Correspondent and Merchant Bank financial products to market.

As co-founder of UniVision Group, a national Advertising and Direct Marketing Communications firm, Mr. Gullett sharpened his keen competitive skills with extensive new business development and program / project management activities. In the process, his operational expertise yielded an intimate knowledge of modern technology markets.

In the area of enterprise software for human capital management, Mr. Gullet initiated and managed a successful rollout of the channel sales team for eWork Exchange, a San Francisco company that markets hosted software solutions to Fortune 1000 companies.

More recently, for two technology start-ups, Mr. Gullett has authored sales and marketing plans, successfully launched sales rollouts, and helped secure first and second-round venture capital funding.

Mr. Gullett is a sought-after speaker having presented at numerous international symposia, trade shows and conventions. He earned his undergraduate and MBA degrees in Marketing from Washington University. His affiliations include the Association of Interactive Marketing, the National Association of Sales Professionals, and the American Marketing Association.[up]


Debra Clark - Director of Learning Market Development
Debra Clark has 20 years of proven expertise in successfully identifying, designing and implementing key go-to-market strategies to in both sales and marketing capacities with IBM, Tektronix and Eastman Kodak. She has managed demand creation, strategy formation, partner engagement, field implementation and sales results

John Guerrero, Database Architect
John Guerrero is an enterprise database engineer, administrator, and developer with a decade and a half of experience. Mr. Guerrero's imprint is felt by the 3 million people who listen to Live365 every month where he has written:

  • stream buffering code for vastly improved, skip-free listening experiences during periods of network instability
  • a playlist search engine that drastically reduce search times while increasing query capacity
  • software systems that control access to premium services while balancing opposing needs of security, usability, and performance
Mr. Guerrero has performed as Oracle DBA and UNIX Administrator for semiconductor and pharmaceutical companies. In the mid 1990s, Mr. Guerrero was a key player in Oracle's Mission Critical Support Center interfacing with senior DBAs at numerous Fortune 500 companies.[up]


Darryl Grigg, Ed. DRPscyh. - Director, Content Development
Darryl Grigg, Ed.D R. Psych. is a partner with Newman and Grigg Psychological and Consulting Services Ltd., an association of professionals providing leadership coaching and assessments on developmental opportunities for senior executives. A recognized leader in corporate training and development of emotional competence. Dr. Grigg is co-designer and key facilitator of the American Express Financial Advisors Emotional Competence Program, a hallmark of best practices that has been independently proven to increase corporate revenue.

Dr.Grigg received a doctorate degree in counseling psychology from the University of British Columbia in 1994. He has been extensively engaged in organizational development, training and educational services for the last ten years. [up]


Peter Geiler - Director of Finance and Administration
Peter Geiler is a master of Finance and Administration. His focus area includes financial planning, analysis, cost identification and reduction, system development and legal support.

Mr. Geiler began his tenure at SBC in project economics and as he moved into corporate financial strategy planning and regulatory accounting. His contract negotiation skills resulted in industry leading terms with other telecom carriers. As team leader, he led a large team of finance, engineering and software developers while building state-of-the-art financial cost models. These models resulted in the first universal service cost subsidies for telephone companies.

In 1997, Mr. Geiler gained global accounting and finance experience in his role of Director for INDETEC International, a San Diego-based boutique management consulting firm. His expansion efforts quadrupled Asia Pacific revenues. After analyzing revenues, costs and gross margins at QuantumShift Mr. Geiler transformed the business through implementing various process improvement initiatives and managing a family of products. His work resulted in gross margin growth and a reduction in vendor costs.

Mr. Geiler has implemented Activity Based Costing systems with associated business metric development, at Kaiser Permanente Information Technology. He is a graduate of Alfred University with a BA in Biology and Mathematics, and holds an MA in Biology and Business from San Francisco State University. [up]


Frederick Borcherdt - Creative and Technical Producer
Mr. Borcherdt has been at the forefront of introducing efficiencies in game design and modeling for the last decade. His credits include:

  • lead interface developer for Sega's online multi-player game, Quake 3 Arena
  • lead online designer for the NBA 2KI Dreamcast site
  • high polygon modeler for Electronic Arts' The Sims and the Mohammad Ali-based Knock Out Kings 2000

Utilizing skills gleaned from a Wentworth Institute of Technology BS in Industrial Design, Mr. Borcherdt has designed a number of best-selling products including joysticks for the Sega Saturn T.

Mr. Borcherdt's cinematic work is a standout among action game titles, which have gone on to secure favorable retail sales and positive reviews for Electronic Arts. He has created virtual walk-throughs for Base Audio retail outlets, high-resolution models for Maxis and numerous multiplayer network interfaces for the SEGA Dreamcast platform. [up]


Bruce Eng - Strategic Interface Designer
Bruce Eng creates database-driven learning objects and user interfaces. With a formal background in Industrial Design, Mr. Eng brings the epitome of esthetics and inventiveness to Atlas Island Media.

At SOZO Design, San Francisco, Mr. Eng applied his Renaissance talents to market research, product design, and project management of medical and electronic products. With INNO Design, Palo Alto, Mr. Eng provided industrial design services for consumer goods that included phones, computer towers, and microwaves. Among Mr. Eng's clients are Intel, Varian Medical Systems, Fujitsu Limited, Coherent Medical Group, Kensington, and Samsung Electronics. [up]


Rudyard Vance - Accountant
Rudyard Vance, has over 25 years of experience in financial management of corporate and nonprofit organizations where he has held executive positions including Vice President of Fiscal and Administration for the Bay Area Urban League, Director of Finance for Pro Arts, and Unit Controller of Candlestick Park.

A principal of Vance Economic Services, Mr. Vance is an Enrolled Agent from the Department. of the Treasury and of the Internal Revenue Service. He holds a BA in Economics from Golden Gate University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Phoenix.[up]
